Countdown 2030 Europe joined forces with Brussels-based partners IPPF EN, European Parliamentary Forum on Population & Development (EPF), and Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW) amongst others to celebrate International Women’s Day with a tweetchat.
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The World Economic Forum predicts the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186. This is too long to wait. Around the world, International Women’s Day is an important catalyst and vehicle for driving greater change for women and moving closer to gender parity.
Topics discussed included economic empowerment, family planning, the impact of the Global Gag Rule on women’s health, and gender equality, all at the core of building a more equitable world. We called on the EU to #BeBoldForChange moving towards a more gender inclusive world.
The chat reached over 625,000 people and made over 2.5 million impressions, across 430 tweets.
